Staged at the Chopra Factory, London in June 2000.
Set in an insane asylum on the eve of Antonin Artaud's death, Last Night portrays a fragmented, hallucinatory and distorted world in which real time no longer applies and frenetically speeded up action is juxtaposed with the meditative pace of filmic slow motion. Drawing from sources both direct and abstract, Last Night creates a portrait of a kaleidoscopic mind hurtling towards its final conclusion, a vision of genius, narcotics, memory and erotic desire, transposed against a backdrop of loneliness and inevitable mortality.
